Emily Boyett, M.A., CCC-SLP, ATP is an assistive technology specialist and speech-language pathologist for Edmond Public Schools in central Oklahoma. She has worked 25 years in public education providing AT and speech language services for students with a broad range of disabilities, as well as training educators and families. Emily’s areas of expertise are helping individuals who are non-speaking or expressively nonverbal find their voices through alternative and augmentative communication, identifying and implementing assistive technology to help struggling readers and writers meet their academic potential, and thinking outside the box to problem solve solutions for students with disabilities. Emily is also passionate about universal design for learning (UDL) and how its concepts remove barriers to learning while maximizing success, teaching others to see potential in the toughest of kids, and creating more inclusive and accessible opportunities for all students.
Emily grew up in Guthrie, Oklahoma, and is an Oklahoma State University grad. When not at the “day job”, she can be found directing Make Promises Happen camps for individuals with disabilities at Twin Cedars, handbuilding pottery in her studio, glamping in her 1964 canned-ham vintage camper, hanging out with her two rowdy nephews, or napping at home with her feline furbabies, Ziggy and Pumpkin.
